my pc wont respond for between 5-30 secs after ive clicked and pages are really slow to load its not just the internet its the same offline too it doesnt even close programs straight away and often freezes or doesnt respond at all pls can anyone help me ive got avast antivirus installed and i think the prob has been happening since then these are the things ive tried so far

ad aware scan
virus scan
defrag
system optimize
run-%temp% and deleted all files there
run-regedit and deleted all browser helper objects
deleted all winsock files
deleted any unnessescary files/programs

i'm at my wits end pls help me XXX
also ive tried to install avg and norton but it keeps saying they are out of date and something about an internal database

Wow you have already done several things that should have helped. Try running your computer through www.pcpitstop.com. See what they recommend.

well first you have to see how much memory you have. Secondly then see how fast your CPU speed is. Sometimes your computer may not be able to keep up with multiple programs, so try looking at the hardware side of it as well. Maybe even your system resources.

Go to Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore.
Then restore it to a couple months before.
That works everytime I get a virus :)

You should also stop trying to install these virus scans b/c obviously they're making your computer slower!

Qwerty is right.

Running a virus scan can make your computer go slower. But how much RAM do you have? You might need to buy a gig of ram to make your computer more efficient.

dump the norton update your avg http://bartman1.blogspot.com/ go to this site and follow if your computer runs slow

A friend of mine had this problem and I just did a system restore. Try that if you haven't already

Well first of all, how old is your computer? Also, check the memory of your computer.
