is there any way you can change your optical drive(dvd-rw,dvd-cd-rw) icons in my computer
i was previously told that you could right click them and customize but i know thats not possible, and neither is the option of using anything in display properties>desktop
at the moment both my drives appear as cd-drive were they should be dvd-rw and dvd/cd-rw respectivly
apart from a system restore which i have tried is there any other ways of fixing this
cheers

All CD/DVD drives will have the same optical drive icon in My Computer - there aren't CD- or DVD-specific ones. You can't change the icons for these like you can the icons for Recycle Bin, etc.

You can't change system icons, as you've found out; I think if you buy a program thats called something like 'Window Blinds' you can, including the disgusting green Start button. You can also get themes made by other people, and share yours.
But its not freeware. Try searching the Microsoft site for more info, look at 'customising xp'.

If you want a shortcut on your desktop you can go to my computer and right click on the drive then click on create shortcut then choose to show on desktop. Once it there you can rename or change icon you want by right clicking on it. to change the icon click on properties.
