Hardware - December 2007

I just put together my first computer and when i fired it up, all it did was sit there and beep at me. everything started up. just no display and beeping. what does this mean?

every time I switch my power book on it says the date is set to march 2001 so I change the date in the control panel then next time I switch it on same thing again , anyone know whats up ?

Hi.
What are ur opinions on having all ur photo's, files, music etc, from ur computer's hard stored on an external hard drive, for safety.
But then erasing them off ur computer's hard drive, to give ur self more space.
Does any one know how reliable they are, i bought a good make, its a 160 gb W.D

i got img burner as it is free and is like nero 8. it says you can burn your movies on dvd .please could someone tell me how you do this as its just puting the data on disc. wont play on dvd player. HELP!

I saw one online that I'm interested in, but have questions. Do they come with an ac adapter? Can I hook up my printer to it easily? Can I use my current cordless optical mouse with it? How long does a 6 cell, 8 cell, and 12 cell batter last? Any help is appreciated before I make my final decision.

When I start my daughters computer all the destop icons come up but they are all frozen. Down near my startup bar it shows the hourglass thing but nothing will load(like my norton, or volume etc)I have restarted and started it in safe mode nothing is working. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be, I can't even get to the control panel or access anything on the internet. .
