Last night I defraged my NTSF hard drive and then my FAT32 hard drive which is about 9 GBs. Well...after defraging my FAT32 the computer would boot up but freeze at the start up screen. Nothing would work. I had to use a recovery disc and completely restore my PC.

Why did this happen, and why aren't there any warning windows that pop up to keep people from (like me) from ruining there hard drive?

Can a virus make the hard drive undetectable in the bios? If so, how would I go about scanning the computer for a virus at bootup?

Hello, I am thinking about buying a Dell XPS 410 with an E6600 2gigs of 800 mhz ram and a 8600 GTS. I was just wondering if that would be worth it and if i would see a big difference between that and my old machine. My old machine has a Pentium 4 3.0ghz HT 2 gig 400mhz ddr2 ram, and a 512 mb version of the 6800gs.

Also does anyone know what kind/brand of the 8600 GTS dell will be putting in the XPS410?

Thanks in advance

Is there an equivalent alternative to the key that looks like a square with little round snips outside of each corner (what is it called?), that can be found down to the left on some keyboards (I think Mac keyboards)?
This key has a good use in the notation program Finale. I don't find it on most keyboards, only on some. What key or key combination can be used instead, on those keyboards that don't have this key?

If you have a big hand, should you get a big mouse? If you have long/short fingers...?
Little mices are for kids?

Are little mices more comfortable and fast-usable than big ones? What about their weight? Less weight, easier to move?

WHAT ABOUT THEIR SHAPE? More or less FLAT, more or less WIDE, more or less LONG, more or less THICK?

If someone have an opinion or finds anything on the Internet about this issue I would appreciate and give him/her my "Best Answer".

OR E-MAIL ME, PLEASE!

WHAT IS YOUR OPINION?
Is your mouse comfortable enough and fast-usable? Did you ever experienced wrist or hand pain?

Hey there, I'm wondering what kind of external hard drive I should buy. I previously had a Calvary external hard drive till it just died 2 days ago for some reason unbeknown to me, and I'm looking for a new one, around 250 GB large, good price, that will last. The 2 brands that I seem interested in are Seagate and Western Digital, Seagate for the impressive looks, good reviews and a good warranty. But, I hear it has no on/off button which seems wierd to me. Western Digital because of the looks and the reviews as well. Can anyone give me some valuable advice as to which I should buy, and if not one of those brands, which else? Thanks a lot

after frying my motherboard & installing a new asrock p4i65g, i started to recieve boot up problems. my pc wont boot from ANY sources. it starts with a screen showing "sorry for the inconvenience...etc" and displays startup modes such as safe mode, safe mode with networking, last know, normal mode etc. i click on each of them and it goes to a black screen and after a second it goes back to the startup mode screen.

is there a problem with my hdd or somethink else?

My Zalman 9500 (cpns9500) seems to only touch my processor on the outer edges of the contact plate. I can tell this because I can see on the CPU where the contact plate touches and has spread the thermal compound aside. Also, on the contact plate, the thermal compound only sticks to the edges, in the center it's clean as a whistle (can even see my reflection in one spot).
The reason I ask is, it seems unusual to me that such a reputable brand as Zalman would make such a grevious error...has anyone else experienced this? Does this seem feasible?

If I use a cooler pad (fan) since the 7200 rpm hard drive conducts more heat, will this solve the issue of power consumption. Will the cooler pad also reduce the abuse ( by cooling the laptop) therefore making it more durable?

Plus will using this drive lower performance throughout use since it uses more heat. (If yes, will the cooling pad correct this problem?)

2GB Shared Dual Channel DDR2 at 667MHz

160GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)

TO TOP IT ALL OFF I AM GOING TO USE A COOLING PAD FOR THE HEAT

please tell me any side effects I will get from the 7200 rpm hard drive? (for example will wear the laptop out faster or wtvr)
