OF COURSE! The DVD drive works with CDs and DVDs. To better enjoy your DVD drive, install Power DVD for viewing movies.
ALSO do not forget to install motherboard chipset drivers and drivers of all onboard devices (VGA, Sound, LAN, etc.) IMMEDIATELY after installing an OS such as Win XP.

Hi. First answer is right. Most DVD readers can also read CDs. (Vista can ONLY be installed with a DVD reader.)
