Try cleaning the little rollers that rub against the ball inside the mouse (in the hole where the ball fits). I used a damp cotton bud to clean mine.

Try cleaning the wheels that the mouse ball moves against, using a pen cap. That should help, and keeping the mouse mat clean. Also, check the connections and settings.
If you need a new mouse, Marble Mice are good, as these use a tracking ball instead of having to move the mouse about.

Clean it properly. Check all 3 rollers are clean and scratch the dirt out of them! Rub your mouse ball with a rough cloth and make it grease free.
Also go to control panel and then check mouse section, try to increase and decrease the speed. Also make sure the mouse is plugged properly into the port at the back of your Tower.

If you are still using the old types of mouse... the only way is to completely take the mouse apart and make sure it is clean and no dust particals are in it... Then put it back together again
Stay away from dirty areas.. especially when using those kinds of mouses.
Better yet... no choice get a new one.. they are very cheap...

Somewhere at the bottom of your mouse there should be a deep hole with a cross head screw in it. With an appropriate scewdriver, take the screw out and your mouse should come apart. Clean all the gunk, hair, *** ash, small insects out and reasemble.
Alternatively buy a balless mouse.
Is that like Mickey and Minnie mouse?
PS Can you believe yahoo censored the word *** in the cigarette context?
PPS Try again F.A.G.

I think you are going to have to shell out for a new one, it sounds like there may be a damaged wire or something. Get an optical mouse they are cheap enough these days and are great.

If your not using a mouse pad that could be part of the problem or might just be unfixable. Really you probably should get a new one for like 20 bucks at wal-mart. :)
