How can I tell if my power supply is about to go out?

Random restarts, unstable voltage readings, chemical smell from leaking capacitor. Voltage rails can be checked in PC Health Status in BIOS or through monitoring softwares like Everest, etc.

Go to download.com and download SiSoftware Sandra Lite 2007.6.11 (copy and paste into search). It's free and tests everything on your PC.

Sandra is and has been pretty much the PC builders burn in and testing tool for many years.
