Ok here goes.... I have a packard bell pc and it had a virus, my friend took it away and scrubbed the machine of everything then reinstalled windows etc back on - I got it all back in working order apart form the sound - there isnt any! So my question is would I be able to go to the packard bell website and download the sound drivers again after all the packard bell info being scrubbed from my machine or do I need to buy a new sound card?

Its a Motherboard problem,Model is GE PRO-HTProblem
I have aperfectly normal working pc,i wanted to add
more memory to it,and stupudily i added sd ram to the
ddr ram thatn was already in there.So when starting up
the pc,the pc only recognised the sd ram,and not the
ddr ram,i took out the sd ram and put the ddr ram back
in,did not work,put back the sd ram it works.Went on
the net to get help,someone gave me these steps.Take
out sd ram after switching off the pc.Switch the pc
on,and then back off,then put in the ddr ram,switch
back on,does not work,switch off put back sd ram,oh my
god now that does not work.So now my pc makes 3 beeps
at a time.What can i do to make the pc work again? I
have took out the battery,and jumpers some told me to
do,but all i am getting is beeps.I have also reset thecmos.

I tried many kinda memory modules.but did not wanted to start.i even tried an 512 SDRAM ECC Registered and it refuses the module.Sorry for my bad english.

when i try to format a floppy disk in Windows it says 'unable to complete format', so i tried it in a DOS window and get 'invalid media - track 0 bad. Disk unusable'.

Right, so i tried the disk in my other PC - the disk is fine.
I tried a different floppy drive, tested it in my other PC - its fine.
I checked the BIOS, its set right.
So that leaves, the cable, floppy controller and software, yes?
does this sound like the problem could be any of those?

PS i don't want any replies about how floppys are old and outdated, i'm taking an IT course and need to know this stuff

Yesterday the machine hanged and both my keyboard and mouse were gone; then after dozens of switching off and on my keyboard is back but the mouse is not there; I am crippled and can do nohthing. Help and please please please let me solve this and don't refer me to pages to read about it.

I added an XP-based 40 GB harddrive to my Windows 98 system. Win 98 recognised the system as existing, however, in Device Manager under Disk Drives, the XP drive is not given a "drive letter assignment". Hence, I cannot access the drive in My Computer!
Does anybody know what's going on??

I'm done what you suggested, but still get the error message Wmburn Acmwrapperv2.dll. I've used 8 discs so, far. Is there any other suggestions you can give?

The speakers work and came originally with the computer. After plugging it into my computer, I went to control panel and it still said "no audio device." So i need a new sound card or do I need to like install a program or something?

my windows XP said on the boot screen i had my trend chip away virus(r) on guard and when i continued the windows XP blue loading bar screen was the farthest i could go until it restarted without a warning soon i asked over the web and got a reply that i tried choose safe mode then f8 it got me to a screen that said disable automaic restart i chose that and then a blue screen came up saying "unmountable_boot_volume" and it told me to disable the BIOS cache and shadowing can someone help me get my comp out of this automatic restart!!!

My laptop is not longer recognizing any device I plug into it except for my monitor. I am using Windows XP. I have done the reboot thing and unplugged and plugged all back in. Any suggestions? I really miss using my printer and syncing my ipod :-). Thanks.

Well anyone interested in the computers I am trying to sell, then let me know, but only if your serious. I posted a question earlier today and got a bogus answer from some little kid. I guess 12 yr olds could be playing around thinking they are cool. Anyway I do have 2 computers that I need to sell. One is brand new and one I bought 4 months ago. Also one came with a monitor, and the brand new one didn't. It has the tower keyboard and mouse.
