hold down Ctrl+Alt+Delete and bring up the Task Manager. Click the Processes tab and a list of running programs is displayed. Click CPU to sort them by the amount of CPU time each process is taking.
On top should be System Idle Process at about 95% or more.
If any other is taking more than the System Idle Process you probably have a virus. Try Trend Micro's "Housecall" to check and clear viruses. You will also want to find and remove Malware. Spybot Search and Destroy is free and fairly good. look around for others.

You can check it in Opera 9. It displays the stats while the page is loading. U can check ur bandwidth speed at http://www.2wire.com (only one of many sites)

Try System mechanic...you can get it as a 30 day free trial...also spybot is great for getting rid of adware etc..it's free but they ask for donations.
