have an old pc, hard drive has no partition on it. have win98 startup disk , green light on floppy drive flashes and tries to read but then just hangs. have tried 3 different floppies but still no good.
want to install win98 again. tried floppies in another pc and ok.

My PC is outdated and parts are begining to fail so its time to upgrade. Ive been using AMD but since im changing just about everything in my case i want to try the new intel chip. Here are some links of parts i plan to buy from the great newegg. let me know what u think and if its all compatable with vista. having trouble finding a good rated mobo so any suggestions on a good one with pci express 16 and sli would be great. clicking very quickly (like an online game or something) I'll end up closing my application - it's like I'm in the middle of a game, clicking something, and the next thing I know, almost in mid-click, the cursor's moved up to the x - and I'm not moving it there. Anyone know anything about this? Thanks.

the problem is that when i put a blank cd in my pc's drive it wont recognize it. and i try to go to my pc then dvd drive it says "the cd is corrupted or is using a format windows cant read" but the cd is new (blank)! and when i put a burned cd in ti (with something in it ) it reads it like normal...can somebody help me please?

I bought my mouse last week with 20USD and now every time I start the computer the mouse does not work anymore unless I unplug it from the USB port ang again reconnect. Why is that? I have directly connected it to my CPU without any HUB.

anyone who knows about computers will know hat im talking about.ive been looking to upgrade my computers physical memory and have successfully done so by moving from a 128mb sdram module to a 256mb sdram module. however i have one expansion slot remaining and was wondering if i can add the original 128mb sdram that i have spare due to upgrading into the spare expansion slot thus having in total 384mb sdram making full use of the physical memory available to me.

I have an ATI RadeonX800GTO 256MB GRRD2 card, and it overheats frequently, while playing games my monitor will just go idle like theres no video coming too it, and the card will be extremely hot. I o nly have two fans in , the fan on the processor and the one to the rear, my case is relatively small and i dont have anymore spots to add additional fans. I opened up my case side and put a house fan to counter the heat, it works....but its extremely ghetto and loud. What should i do?!?!?!!?

I bought a second hand piece of memory DDR2 1GB 240pin DIMM PC2-4200, non-ECC which matches the requirements of my PC. Yet it does not work. The question is despite all these stats matching can the memory still be incompatible or is the memory broken?[ For info its Hypertec PV557AA-HY memory I'm trying to get into a Dell Dimension 8400.] Thanks in advance.

I've been researching hardware components needed to run my retail store. This is what I want:

POS System
Kiosk for Customer Web Surfing (probably touch-screen monitor running content blocking software)
Back Office PC

Question: I'm guessing I need a server to store all the customer, inventory, sales, etc. data and to exchange info to/from the POS. But, do I need to purchase a server and a PC? Or can I just get a server and use that as my back office PC as well?
