That looks very promising, I have a few suggestions. First, ASUS just came out with a new board that has the nVidia 590 chipset, which is perfect for SLI. It is not on newegg yet, but it should be very soon. Secondly, I like the power supply, but there is also one on there that is exactly the same except that it has modular cabling which I would recommend you get. Lastly, I know you got that hard drive because it is 10,000RPM, frankly I would stick with the 7200, they are much cheaper and the performance advantage is not big enough to compensate for the extra cost, in my opinion, but I guess if you have the money go for it. Anyway If you wanna know anything else please email me because I have been researching the same stuff recently and have a pretty good idea whats out there.

Most motherboards will only support AMD or Intel not both. Almost every new computer item will probably say Windows Vista compatible on it or in its specs somewhere.

I suggest you get a new computer and do not upgrade. Wait 4-12 months and save get a whole new computer. Many new great technology's are coming out soon. And even if something says window vista compatible right on it that might not away be the case when vista rolls around.

In the next 3-12 months

quad core processors
windows vista
and "ready drives" all are coming out along with other stuff. These 3 technology's are worth waiting for. If you do not wait you will probably need to get an other Motherboard off the bat then probably Ram to go with it if you want to use these 3 new technology's.

Instead of ordering the parts piecemeal, why not just order a 'barebones' kit? That way, you can specify all the components you need to upgrade in 1 spot, and you know they will work together. This also gives you the advantage of transferring any parts you want to keep (cd-rw, sound card, video card, hard drive, etc) from your old computer to the new one. (Check tigerdirect.com, cpusolutions.com, and newegg.com and compare prices)

i became thinking of being extra suitable and going for 4 x 1000gb inner harddrives by way of fact I in simple terms prefer to be set and not ought to enhance something for an prolonged time. properly, you useful have that genuine. 4 Terabytes of storage is to not be sneezed at. i think of you mean GB and not gb (there's a distinction). there is not any direct relation between the cost of your laptop and the dimensions of your difficult drives. What you prefer to renowned is how briskly the difficult drives are. You learn the 4 X 1000 to 500GB 16MB Cache 7200rpm SATA to the alternative. in the adventure that your 4 x 1000 difficult drives are working at 10,000 rpm - you probably did not specify - then they could be swifter than 7200 rpm drives. inspect the flow expenditures of the drives you're finding at, in case you prefer to get extremely the main out of your laptop, yet do not equate that to slowing down your laptop the laptop itself may be a bomb, in calculating, rasterizing and all its different purposes, self sufficient of the difficult disk. Now, in case you prefer to apply the laptop for streaming documents, then we ought to take a somewhat diverse view of your question, and the difficult disk then will become component to the wide-unfold overall performance score. lower back, it is the difficult disk velocity and not its means that must be seen.
