I have an ATI RadeonX800GTO 256MB GRRD2 card, and it overheats frequently, while playing games my monitor will just go idle like theres no video coming too it, and the card will be extremely hot. I o nly have two fans in , the fan on the processor and the one to the rear, my case is relatively small and i dont have anymore spots to add additional fans. I opened up my case side and put a house fan to counter the heat, it works....but its extremely ghetto and loud. What should i do?!?!?!!?

i would get the PCI fan, but the way my slots are, they are like upside down, so my video card fan faces toward the bottom of the case, and i dont think the PCI fan would blow to it

Bro.. the best way to fix that is to buy better fans.... the next possible way is to buy a new and better built computer for gaming like alienware or something..... those can take the video card and games....

sometimes they screw up and don't add enough thermal paste at the factory. Are you overclocked at all? If you are back it down. If not you could always get an aftermarket cooler. I use a zalman cf-700 on my 6800gt that is overclocked, on the slow fan setting and it cools it just fine. You might also want to try and see how well the airflow in your case is. With only two fans you might have issues. Look into cable and wire management, do a googlesearch on it. If air can't flow it can't cool. Try running 2 or more 120mm fans, they move a lot of air and can run at lower rpms so they are quiet. It sounds like an airflow problem because using a house fan works. Good luck.

The best option so far is the suggestion to get a PCI slot fan for the graphics card. Also they make PCI slot exhaust fans which could also help. Unfortunately this is a problem with cards that use GDDR2 RAM, they tend to overheat.

Do the other resources have the power/ability to support your video card? Resources like the processor, the RAM and even your monitor. You have a high end video card so to keep up, you'll need high end resources. Yeah, house fan is kinda ghetto.

circulate to Nvidias internet site, acquire and setting up nTune. With which you would be able to set your video card fan to regardless of velocity you desire. A heatsink purely sucks warmth from regardless of this is expounded to and expels the warmth into the air so if its close to on your video card its a hinerance, not a help. i does not play any hardcore video games till you get that fan working.

Do you have a pci slot open near your video card? If so you could get a pci cooling fan that will direct are directly over your vid card.
