the problem is that when i put a blank cd in my pc's drive it wont recognize it. and i try to go to my pc then dvd drive it says "the cd is corrupted or is using a format windows cant read" but the cd is new (blank)! and when i put a burned cd in ti (with something in it ) it reads it like normal...can somebody help me please?

it most likely is unusable... even brand new... i get at least 1 faulty cd when i buy a bunch of cds to burn on... (one of my worst was 3 in 10) not exactly sure what's causing it but it does happen... it may not be your drive but it can't hurt for you to check that as well :)

Check your burners manual. They have a list of who's Cds will burn in the DVD drive. DVD burners are very picky about blanks! They will only burn certain blank DVDs and Cds. This is due to the color of the dye used during the manufacturing process. If you use a recommended Cd, and it still doesn't work, try going to the device manager and uninstalling the DVD drive and then reboot the computer. That will reload the drivers.
