First I get the error message : "Cannot play back the audio stream, no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not functioning." When I click on details, it says, "There is no sound card
You either do not have a sound card installed on your computer or it is not functioning properly. If you do not have a sound card installed, you must install one before you can listen to audio in a digital media file. If you do have a sound card installed, refer to its documentation to troubleshoot the problem."

Does anybody know what I can do about this without having to buy anything? A site maybe where I can download what is needed? I'm not really technical so you might have to give your response in everyday language that someone like me can understand, thanks.

A few weeks ago I asked a question concerning my drive, as it couldn't recognoze blank discs...
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiOVW42P74I1NTl0._YFM4Lsy6IX?qid=20060922131042AAgtZsf
One suggested I try getting a cleaning disc and trying that to clean the lasers. Well, I did that and it DID work. I could burn normally, but the very next day I went to burn some more discs and the same message came up.

Naturally I put the disc in again, but nothing changed, and I did once more, and still nothing. Keep in mind all this was a few weeks ago, and I just finally gave up, annoyed. Well, I decided again today I'd try and put the cdisc in and then try burning but again, same message.

This is really getting annoying and I'd like to figure out why it's doing this. I can't reinstall the drive program, as my comp came with everything installed, so don't bother recommending that. It's not an old model either, as I got it about three years old and I've rarely burned anything.

Hi there,

I have a DVD ROM drive on my computer that suddenly stopped working one day. It's a Samsung SD616e in my Dell Dimension 3000.

It is recognized by the compuer, it is saying that it is working properly, but it will not read any discs, CDs DVDs or otherwise.

How can I fix this problem?
