I have an Intel Celeron 1.7Ghz, 512MB memory, AGP 4x.... What kind of video card would get me the best deal for around 150-180 dollars? What kind of games should I be able to run with this system?

I would pick up this one:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814131010
plus another 512MB of system RAM, which should cost about $50. You will be able to play games that are a year old and older pretty well, new games you still might have a little trouble.

That processor is exceptionally weak by technique of todays criteria, notwithstanding the video games you record do no longer want an outstanding CPU, so this is going to no longer reduce your overall performance. in basic terms undergo that in recommendations in case you attempt to play extra complicated video games! verify that your computer has a PCIE slot no longer a AGP slot for the video card! My Athlon sixty 4 computer had the old AGP slot, and this may vastly reduce what playing cards you are able to get. even if it is a PCI-E slot, i might want to imagine about getting an AMD 6670 or AMD 5750 (or 7670 even if it is out yet). something extra effective and your CPU will be limiting your overall performance. 2.75GB of RAM is finet in that gadget, there is no opt to position in 64bit residing house windows!

The suggestion above is very respectable, but I prefer nVidia personally.
