First I get the error message : "Cannot play back the audio stream, no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not functioning." When I click on details, it says, "There is no sound card
You either do not have a sound card installed on your computer or it is not functioning properly. If you do not have a sound card installed, you must install one before you can listen to audio in a digital media file. If you do have a sound card installed, refer to its documentation to troubleshoot the problem."

Does anybody know what I can do about this without having to buy anything? A site maybe where I can download what is needed? I'm not really technical so you might have to give your response in everyday language that someone like me can understand, thanks.

Firstival you have to check if you have sound card or not.For checking that you should right click on my computer and choose properties next choose Hardware and try to go to Device manager. When you are in device manager see if you can see any yellow signs next to the items.if you See any yellow sign you should figure out what is wrong with it.probebly the driver for your sound card is not good and you have to change it.for changing that double click on your sound card and and write down the model number and download a new driver for it.

I am assuming you do have a physical sound card installed. If there is a place to plug in your speakers you have one.I prefer to let windows do the work if possible. to do this you must remove your sound devices completely.1st, go to the control panel.I'll back up, start menu, settings control panel. Once there, add remove programs. Install anything related to your audio. Then go to the device manager. While you are still in control panel you can click system, hardware, then device manager. Scroll down to see if any devices are listed under "sound & gameport". If sound & gameport is there at all. If so you must remove these devices. Right click, properties, & remove. Restart your system. The new found hardware wizard should pop up & auto detect & install your devices. All this providing until recently you have had a working audio device & are runnin Win XP. good luck.

LOL

It's telling you plain as day you have no Sound Card present, and no drivers installed for it either.

Go into your Device Manager, do you see a soundcard present? Does it have any exclamation points on it?

You might indeed have to buy a soundcard of some kind, if your computer does not have one. Soundcards are necessary for the computer to process any kind audio whatsoever.
