A few weeks ago I asked a question concerning my drive, as it couldn't recognoze blank discs...

One suggested I try getting a cleaning disc and trying that to clean the lasers. Well, I did that and it DID work. I could burn normally, but the very next day I went to burn some more discs and the same message came up.

Naturally I put the disc in again, but nothing changed, and I did once more, and still nothing. Keep in mind all this was a few weeks ago, and I just finally gave up, annoyed. Well, I decided again today I'd try and put the cdisc in and then try burning but again, same message.

This is really getting annoying and I'd like to figure out why it's doing this. I can't reinstall the drive program, as my comp came with everything installed, so don't bother recommending that. It's not an old model either, as I got it about three years old and I've rarely burned anything.

Ah, guys, I am using Memorex brand and they are freshly new. The discs are in great shape, and I even borrowed some friend's unused but new and it still couldn't recognize them. And to add, when I did burn successfully, my RWs and Rs did both burn good.

Hmm, three -year old computer...outdated 6 months after you bought it.
Try downloading deepburner from deepburner.com. Make sure you are using fresh, BLANK cds to burn to. If CD-R blanks, these only let you burn one time only!
Sounds like the burner is not recognizing your blanks. Try different blanks after reinstalling the drivers or the new burning software.
As far as everything already installed on the computer, there should be a restore partition on your hard drive that has all of the installed programs to restore from in case you ever needed them.

First, "I can't reinstall the drive program, as my comp came with everything installed, so don't bother recommending that. It's not an old model either, as I got it about three years old and I've rarely burned anything."
You can install another drive if you know what you are doing or have a service technician do it for you at cost.

From the description you gave in your 3rd paragraph of your previous question (regarding the link you provided) I would tend to think that the write or "burn" part of your CD-ROM is faulty. You say that you have burned CD's previously and re-burned CD's but now you are not able to. This is an indication that something is wrong with the burn part of the drive. It can probably be repaired, but you should compare the cost to repair versus the cost of purchasing a new CD-RW drive. Is the CD-RW that is installed still under warranty? Probably not. The CD_RW will stop functioning at some point, whether you burn a lot or not. Apparently your drive has reached the point of failure.

DVD media/burners are notoriously unreliable. Any insider in the industry can tell you that, if they're being honest. A failure rate of about 10% on burning fresh DVD's in normal. Having burned many, many DVD's, I always plan on loosing 10% - and it doesn't matter what brand you buy. They're all crap. This is something no one will tell you, but we all have to live with.

Unplug the power cable from the drive and IDE cable from the drive and motherboard and then plug them back in, Most of the time a loose cable is the problem, Also check the manufacturers website for any updated drivers.

Buy good name brand discs. Don't buy generic ones. Get memorex or sony. Sometimes there are bad discs in the stack when you buy the cheapies.

Are you burning CD's or DVD's? If you are burning CD, have you set your optical drive to allow recording? Right click the optical drive > Properties > "Recording" tab > make sure to check "Enable CD recording on this drive." > [Apply] > [O.K.] > Restart.
