I have a Sony Vaio PCV-RX540 which I am hoping to use for some voice recording. But my fans make horrible noises, so I would like to replace them with quieter ones. Unfortunately, I am unsure which fans will fit in, and work with my system.

I have an intel mother board, and I know certain fans are compatible with these and others with AMD motherboards. But specifically, when I look at specs for fans, I don't know which ones (which specs) are important as far as size and compatibility are concerned.

I also don't know the specs of my own fans, or how to determine these (actually, I did figure out which case fan I had and read those specs, but they were little help because I was unsure which ones pertained to size and compatibility).

The owner's manual directs me to a support website for upgrading and repairing my particular PC, which I would be grateful to use, but I have yet to find any evidence that this site actually exists.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have recently discovered the internet and as a result windows has slowed down so that I can no longer compose music with my computer. I decided to buy a new hard drive and run a seperate operating system on it. My only problem is moving smoothly from one hard drive to the next. I have to turn off the computer, unplug the master hard drive, change hard drive in the bios and reboot. It worked fine at first but is now having trouble booting when I switch. I feel this is somthing to do with the computer becoming confused with the whole master slave thing.

Can anyone help me?

The back of my computer has a fan, and the fan stopped working.

Now, when it heats up, the computer shuts off automatically.

Is this something that i can replace myself, or do I need to take it to some computer repair shop??

Currently, i use a small portable fan that i have plugged in, as a temporary replacement.

Any SERIOUS advice would be appreciated...
