for an intel cpu, no. Intel has been focusing on its core clock for a while and an average progessor from them is usall around 3.0-3.2 ghz. your 2.26 proc is outdated, almost obsolete now. AMD onthe otherhand has better architecture and technology so therefore doesnt use such high clock speeds and still is considered by many o be a better chip. for instance an athlon 64bit 3500+ only runs at 2.2ghz but runs at the same speed as a 3.5ghz pentium4. especially if your cpu doesnt have hyperthreading, its time to upgrade.

It was a Northwood processor if u had intel/ asus board have an AGP card plus 1 Gb of DDR RAM than it is enough for most applications. I used this processor and satisfied with its performance. Clock speed does't determine the processor's performance.

If you do think its too slow you could do what they call an overclock on it which changes the clock speed and speeds up your processor however you must watch out because it will heat up your computer you must have good ventalation and excelent fans in your comp.

Who really cares about speed anymore. Its the processing power of what you needed done that's whats matter.Just make sure you have at least 1 Gigabyte of RAM or memory.

That should be plenty fast enough for most applications, though some newer games are recommending 3.0 GHz or better.
