I have had my computer and cd drive 4 about 3 years now and it has been having alot of problems with the drive lately. At first, all it was having trouble with was reading audio cd's, but everything else worked and it would read the disk after a while of it being in there, or it would randomly work then not work. Now I'm trying 2 use a normal game and it won't work. no other disks I've tried have worked, so it's not a format problem. It won't even recognize that there is a disk in the drive.

I have a Vaio Desktop (VGC-RA716G) with a HDD (250GB2 7200 rpm PATA) that’s on its last leg. I was told that I can replace it with an Ultra ATA or an ATA by the guys at Seagate, but Sony says PATA only. Seagate also says that I can upsize to a 400 or 500GB if the bios supports it, but Sony said that since it’s a 250GB, they only ‘recommend’ that I get the same size. Any hardware Gurus out there? HELP!!!

ok 2-3 years ago my computer started to partially turn off (the monitor looks like it shutdowned but part of my pc are still on, u can hear the fan spinning n some of the lights r on[our computer is a T1840emachines]) so now it got just a bit worst costs it does it much sooner than b4

Yo I have just bought a new pc3200 512mb ram stick. On top of that I also have two other pc3200 ram sticks, one consisting of 512mb and the other 256mb. Since pc3200 is suppost to work at 400mhz speed, why is it showing on cpuz under memory frequency its only working at 133mhz. I understand that in ddr you multiply that number to get the correct frequency you are using, but that would only make it 266mhz, and that is pc2300. So why am i not using the full speed of my ram?

Also if this helps I would list all the ram sticks names and correct frequencys.

I shut down my computer yesterday because it locked up and now it wont boot up to windows. All im getting is the compaq screen and a noise coming from my hard drive. not a beeping noise but clicking or motor turning noise. then it says something like boot disk error.
my computer doesnt come with a floppy drive so icouldnt replace and strike any key. Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

The other day I downloaded windows media player 9 onto windows 98 se. I thought everything was okay until I realized that I now have no sound. Although the audio hardware is available I dont know how to enable it again. I dont understand too much technical jargon so would appreciate a nice simple answer. any ideas? really driving me crazy now. fankyou all.

I had written a cd successfully from my acer laptop but when i tried to read it it said it was a blank one...bt nero and even xp showed that the cd was written successfully..so what was the error?? the device is a dvd rom cd rw..though it also suceessfully reads other cds n dvds burnt on other pcs.could you plz suggest an remedy to this problem!!!

I have tried changing the sound card to another pci slot but it still won't work. My computer also has onboard sound ports. When my agp video card was in there I could use my Soundblaster card. Now that I replaced my blown out agp card with a pci video card my sound card won't work. I am stuck using my inferior onboard sound driver at the moment. Is there a way to get both the pci video and sound cards working together and disable the onboard sound?

What is virtual memory.It says 'virtual memory' is low on my computer?
My son has downloaded several games from the internet. I tried to uninstall few as the computer slowed down.There is no uninstall feature nor can it be deleted. I tried to remove it from Add/remove programs but cannot. Can someone help me?
