did your hard drive break some how? what you are seeing is the BIOS. well first, restart again, and tap F8 constantly. then go to start windows normally, and select XP (or what ever you're using). if that doesn't work, then there's definately some thing wrong with your hard drive. try booting from an external hard drive.

This is NOT good news , but if you are hearing a knocking sound your HD is fried. NEVERRRRR shut pc down from the tower unless absolutely necessary , this is a HARD COLD BOOT , will fry your HD if done so too many times .

well there is compelling evidence that your hard drive is ready to go to hard drive heaven...so do what most people would do... buy a new one that is like the only thing you can do. well its gotta happen some time though...so just take it out and send it on its way to its next life...

How old is your computer? It may have died! The same thing happened to me several months ago, and my hard drive was fried. I had to buy a new computer.
