EPROM is memory that holds the data in it unles it is (E)lectronically re(P)rogrammable. This the memory that is used to hold the BIOS information on your computer. ROM memory is used for other types of memory on the motherboard of the computer. You cannot manually reprogram it. Whatever is written on that memory is there for good.
