Until recently I was able to get a signal from my video card. But after a recent shutdown, I can't get a signal from my video card. I bought a new video cable but that didn't work. There are two DVI-I ports on my video card, which is an ATI Radeon x1900 XT. So far I can't get a signal from either port. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do??

I have two different monitors one is HP, and the other is a widescreen westinghouse.

I use the widescreen, because its newer, but I guess cheaper.

But earlier when I was on it, I noticed that words and stuff and like a shadow to them and it was kind of fuzzy so I went to see if maybe the settings got messed up and when I went to properties, settings.
A message pops up and says.

Invalid Display Settings:
The current selected graphics driver can not be used. It was written for a previous version of Windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of Windows.

The system has been started using the default VGA driver.

Please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an upgraded driver, or select one of the Microsoft provided drivers.

When I went to that and tried to change the settings it shut off, when i turned it back on, it would stay on for about 5 seconds then shut off again.
I have a ATI Radeon Series 9200 graphics card.
I just got it like 2 months ago.

I got a spare 21" CRT monitor from my landlord, and it worked great, but then the next day I was messing with the OSD's settings and saw one called "Quality". Not knowing what it was, I decided to see what it did. I turned it down some and the display started to turn more and more snowy. That's when the status light in the corner (where it is normally either green for OK or amber for No Signal) turned magenta, or red. I decided to leave it unplugged for a week and see if it reverted to factory default settings. I just plugged it in and it didn't.

But one thing that worries me about it is that the OSD doesn't even come up now. I really hope I didn't fry this monitor 24 hours after I got it. But now I'm starting to think maybe I did :(

Has anyone ever heard of the magenta light on a CRT? I haven't been able to find anything about it on the web, and a friend said that in his experience magenta means "input out of range" but I'm starting to think it means "BROKEN".

Re: Older Laptop – Dell Inspiron 8100; running Windows XP SP2; P3 with maxed out RAM at 512MB. Computer runs fine with the following exception.

Problem: Screen Resolution Issues
When the laptop is set at max resolution of 1280 X 1024 the viewable area of the monitor is full width and full height.
However, if you lower the resolution to say 1024 X 768 the viewable area becomes much smaller and has a black border around all four edges about 1½ inches wide.
If you further reduce the resolution to 800 X 600 the viewable area now becomes about 7”W X 5”H with large 3”+ black borders all around.

I figured a repair install of XP would fix the problem, but since the XP disk is 8 years old, the version on the PC with all the Microsoft updates is consider a newer version and XP won’t allow me to do a “repair” installation.
My only options would be to format the HD and reinstall from scratch or uninstall all the upgrades and perform the repair install.
Any viable suggestions?

I'm looking into getting a Mac Pro but the the monitors are super expensive. Why? What makes them so special? A Dell monitor would work just as well, wouldn't it? And they are much cheaper.

I recently bought a new S-video cable to connect my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to my TV (just a regular CRT type) When I connect the cable the picture quality is excellent, but everything is in black and white! Ive tried using different scart sockets, PAL, NTSC, and fiddling with the display settings on my laptop and I still cant get any colour! Please help. Thanks

I want to know that they would look like on my comp monitor, since I can run 720p, like all monitors. My monitor is 1680x1050 widescreen dell, and i have heard it can run 1080i with some scaling. The reason behind all of this is that I want to get a 360, but it's not worth it without HD television, and I can use my monitor for that. I would really appreciate the help.

I bought a used LCD monitor, I unknowingly plugged in (+) --C-- (-) but it should use (-) -- C -- (+) so obviously it didn't power up, what would be happening to its own circuitry? Fried?

I do have another fitting adapter with right polarity but it is over-rated by voltage/wattage/amp, it was only a test since that belong to another device.
