I got a spare 21" CRT monitor from my landlord, and it worked great, but then the next day I was messing with the OSD's settings and saw one called "Quality". Not knowing what it was, I decided to see what it did. I turned it down some and the display started to turn more and more snowy. That's when the status light in the corner (where it is normally either green for OK or amber for No Signal) turned magenta, or red. I decided to leave it unplugged for a week and see if it reverted to factory default settings. I just plugged it in and it didn't.
But one thing that worries me about it is that the OSD doesn't even come up now. I really hope I didn't fry this monitor 24 hours after I got it. But now I'm starting to think maybe I did :(
Has anyone ever heard of the magenta light on a CRT? I haven't been able to find anything about it on the web, and a friend said that in his experience magenta means "input out of range" but I'm starting to think it means "BROKEN".

edit: thanks stu_the_kilted_scot, but the first thing I did was google for the monitor's manufacturer or a manual. Nothing showed up. It's a Decaview PA630 and its date of manufacturer is Januaray 1998. The company looks like a defunct, completely amateurish Taiwanese low-end CRT manufacturer.

edit x 2: I just reread what I wrote and it seems I didn't effectively explain the entire situation.
There is no display coming from the monitor. Nothing. I turn it on and the status light turns green for a second, as it warms up, but then it turns magenta. The OSD doesn't show up, it seems like the tube got fried due to me playing with the electron beam like I did with the QUALITY control. Before asking my landlord for my money back I'd like to make sure I can at least do something to salvage it. It shows this status light even if it's not hooked up to anything. Not even the amber.
