Drivers aren't the issue, nope!

It's one or more of the following:

Loose video cable either into the PC, or (much less likely) into the monitor itself. It could be that the pins on the lead are bend too, even snapped but in reality this would be an all or nothing effect so I'd be included to rule this out.

Your monitor is dying. Tubes have a finite life and, depending on the manufacturer, it is generally around 5 years. + or - 3
Depends how old your monitor it, really.

Finally - and most likely - your computer speakers aren't shielded and are too close to the monitor. Telephones caused the safe problem - it's the magnets inside that do it.

Pressing 'degauss' (if you have this feature) is a quick and dirty fix, but not a solution. Trying moving your speakers, router etc away from the monitor.

Check that the monitor signal cable is well secured at both ends.

You could try wiggling it to see if that causes the problem.

If you unplug the signal cable does the monitor have a test pattern come up? Next time the problem happens try unplugging the monitor to see if you still lose the colours.

If they are still gone the problem is in the monitor, if the test pattern looks normal when you would have expected it to change then plug it back in to check if that is still bad. If it is then it could still be the monitor, but it is probably the signal cable or the video card.

What exactly are the colour changes? If you lose red then I would expect yellow to turn green not the other way around. White should turn magenta.

Edit:
The other way to check is to bring up the OSD menu on the monitor. If that is normal colours then it is probably a cable/video card problem. If the OSD colours are off then it definately is in the monitor.

you could try resetting to factory default, which is a common fix for loss of colour (fading etc)

While the monitor is turned off press and hold the Auto Adjust button, while you have this held in power the monitor up keep the AA button held for a few seconds and then release, the monitor should now come on.

Press the menu button on the monitor, usually under tools or extra you will find the reset to default option, select this.

if that doesnt work and you are actually losing colour as in going to black and white it could be a variety of things, depending on the video cable being used, the interface etc. can you post in more detail?

Loosing colour how?
Dose one part of the monitor go a different colour? dose all the screen god black or gray, dose it go white? more info...
Most likely is two things:
1: screen burn, this is when the monitor is on its way out, and need replacing soon.

2: the connection to your monitor is bad, a break or one of the connecting pins are broken, check with another cable and look for broken pins on your PC and monitor aswell.

Sounds like a driver problem, find the latest drives for your graphics card, its going to be nVidia or ATI

Up date your drivers for your card, then restart. If you can test with another monitor, if you get the same problem then its possibley your graphics card.

Try going to the monitors menu screen. Then find degauss, or reset. Degauss demagnetizes your screen. It may surprise you.
