I recently bought a new S-video cable to connect my Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop to my TV (just a regular CRT type) When I connect the cable the picture quality is excellent, but everything is in black and white! Ive tried using different scart sockets, PAL, NTSC, and fiddling with the display settings on my laptop and I still cant get any colour! Please help. Thanks

Hammy

S-Video carries two seperate signals. One is the luminance - the black and white signal that you are seeing, the second is the chrominance or the colour signal that you are missing.

At some point between the laptop and the screen the chrominance signal is being lost, either a broken cable or a broken connector.

If you can try testing the cable on a different source and TV.

If that works, then try testing the cable with the first TV and a different source.
