Nothing is wrong with my HP notebook and the backlight works nice and bright. The problem is that when I plug it in to charge it and still use it, the backlight dims and makes it harder to see the screen. Is their an option to turn this off and keep the backlight on?

I have a 1 year old hp laptop. Recently, the speakers stopped working. At first, I could restart the laptop, and the speakers would begin to work again, but now they've stopped completly, even when I do restart the laptop. I've tried plugging headphones into it, but it still won't work. And I have checked the volume control to make sure it wasn't muted, or on low volume.

My computer won't boot from the CD-ROM drive and there are no BIOS updates that will allow it. I want to boot a Linux Live CD. Any suggestions?

It's an HP dv5000. I just sent it in to get fixed and it came back a few days ago and still isn't working too well. I'm probably going to send it back in again, because it's under warranty, but I want to unfreeze it now. There's not a restart button or hole that you can put a paper clip in on the laptop. I've tried pressing and holding the power button and it doesn't do anything. Should I remove the battery? It's easy to do, but I don't want to mess up the computer more.

when i put cd or dvd in of any type the computer doesnt read it...when i go to My Computer there is no icon that says CD Drive and all computers have that...when i go to brun a cd the computer says to attach a burner...?? this computer is a week old with the new vista

when my computer has multipile windows opened it tends to run slower and or freeze up. then if you press any buttons the screen will say "this program is not responding"

What should i do if my laptop won't play cd's or dvd's. There is no toshiba repair center near me and it's still under warranty. I don't want to pay if i don't have to. Is there a way i can fix it on my own?

100 gb with 7200 rpms

The price being asked by Dell for this laptop with included upgrades is 1190 Canadian dollars before taxes. I have no real experience with regards to Dell, are the hard drives their using reliable, and is this a good buy?

I have the HP laptop, with 1024 mb RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, and LightScribe 8X DVD+R/RW drive with Double Layer Support. I am using InterActual Player and I receive the following message "Playback failed due to a problem with the video subsystem. Lowering your screen resolution or color depth may fix the problem." I don't know the password to my hp pavilion, there is something seriously wrong with it and it wont let me do anything untill i enter the password, is there anyway to bypass this or way at all to get into my computer?

I just had computer problems with my laptop and my whole HDD was reformatted. Now, I just finished installing the WinXP OS, but turns out I don't have the drivers for the devices.

I'm now downloading drivers, but they're in .rar, I know how to extract but where will I put it? Or how exactly do I install them?

I bought a hp laptop with 12 cell battery awhile ago. I thought a 12-cell battery would lasts for 7 hours, apparently it only lasts 4-5 hours. So how long does a 12 cell battery really last?
