hey guys iv got VGN-FJ78GP (Sony VAIO Laptop), it has 512RAM. but in order to get vista i need minimum 1GB. How do i buy it and where from (cheaper). isit beter to get 512*2 or 1GB togther. and does laptop hav differend ram then PC's. howmuch shud it be?

It would be better if you take the laptop to a service center and ask the technician there to add more ram. One more thing, though the minimum requirement for running vista is 1GB ram and 128 MB graphics memory, but it is highly recommended that you go for 2GB ram and 256MB graphics memory.

I recommend buying another 1GB module which you can add to your existing 512mb. Beware that generic memory may not work in your machine.

The correct Sony-specific part number for a module made by Kingston is M12864E40. Do a google search on that and you will find plenty of stores that sell it online.

first you gotta find out if ur laptop is compatible with vista. if it is then try the site www.newegg.com for memory and check the prices....
