I have a 1 year old hp laptop. Recently, the speakers stopped working. At first, I could restart the laptop, and the speakers would begin to work again, but now they've stopped completly, even when I do restart the laptop. I've tried plugging headphones into it, but it still won't work. And I have checked the volume control to make sure it wasn't muted, or on low volume.

Go to the HP website and read through the FAQ's, someone else probably had a similar problem.

If your built-in sound card is defective, you may want to try to find a USB sound card. Do a Google/Yahoo search for them.

Your best course of action is to call support. They will walk you through a series of steps. And if it doesn't work out, you may need to send it in. Provided that you have a warranty.
