GB refers to the space on you hard drive, this doesn't really have any kind of impact on your speed. However, the speed at which the hard drive runs will have an impact. A good speed is around 7200RPMs. If you have any questions on what you system is running, just go to the manufacturer's website and look up your computer model. Secondly, the processor is one of two of the "powerhouse" hardware to keep an eye on. Now they have come out with dual and even quad processors, those would be your best bet. I have a dual in my laptop and it works great. The second thing to keep an eye on is your RAM. Anything below 1GB of RAM is not going to do you in this day and age.

Think of it this way. Imagine an interstate. The cars are the info that your computer needs to process. The processor determines how fast the cars travel. The faster the processor the faster the cars. Lastly the width of the hyway is determined by RAM. The more RAM you have the more lanes on the hyway. Rush hour is just like opening a large file or running a game that takes up a large amount of resources. If your processor is slow, it is like driving in bumper to bumper traffic at 30MPH. If you RAM is limiting, it is like taking your bumper to bumper traffic and putting it only on one lane.

So check on both your processor and your RAM. My recommendation for the processor is, don't settle for anything less than a dual, no matter how fast, and don't use less than 1GB of RAM in your computer.

Thanks,
Charlie

That is a RAM (which can be measured in GB too) problem not processor (GhZ) or hard drive (GB), you need more RAM, and maybe defragment too. But to answer your question on powerhouse, it is a combination of both, actually more than just those two. To have a powerhouse you want a fast processor, a good amout of hard drive space, good sound card, good video card, have loads of RAM, and a good cooling system. Of course I could go into more detail, but that would take too long.

What makes you a powerhouse for multitasking and internet use is GHZ, because this allows info to move faster.
Gigabytes, or GB, Make your PC a powerhouse if you are just trying to store a lot of stuff. For you, i think the first one is true, the latter not so much. Hope i've been a help.

well ghz is in reference to your processor, the main workhorse of the laptop, and the gb can can also be applied to the hard drive size, the storage of the pc, or the RAM, eg like i have 1 GB of RAM in my laptop, but a 100gb hard drive.
its possible advisable to upgrade the RAM on the laptop, since nearly all laptops the processor cant be upgraded.
