ok I have an interesting scenario here, the monitor on my laptop broke yesterday (my wife steped on it...) so now I can see the left 1/3 of the monitor while the right 2/3 is completely black.I still consider myself lucky as the START button is on the left side so I can still use it & open windows.
The problem is that some application when I click them, their screen will be under te dark side of the monitor so I cant view it.
The question is : is there any way (through he control panel which am still bale to control) that I force all windows & applications to open on the left side of the monitor were I can see them?

I have a Gateway laptop running on AMD Sempron, and wish to purchase a HDD Camera. Could anybody tell me what level Pentium is equivilent to my AMD Sempron. Also, am I likely to encounter any problems by using AMD or do all products run on either AMD or Pentium providing the right level of either is used??

I HAVE AN MP3 PLAYER THAT I BOUGHT THAT SAID IT HAS 1GB(1024MB) OF STORAGE ON THE BOX BUT WHEN I CHECKED THE MEMMORY ON MY COMPUTER, IT SAID 944MB. WHY AM I MISSING 80MB. I PAID $100 COME ON I WANT MY 80MB!!!
MY LAPTOP DOES THE SAME THING. WHEN I BOUGHT IT THE BOX SAID 100GB BUT WHEN I CHECKED THE HARDDRIVE SPACE IT SAID ONLY 79GB. WHERE IS MY OTHER 21GB!!! I PAID OVER $1000 BUCKS GOSH!!!

I cannot decide whether to buy a 17' laptop to take on placment, or buy a desktop to leave at home and trust that my placments will all have adequate computing facilities. What's stopping me going for the laptop is the weight issue., Anybody found the wieght of a 17" laptop a pain in the *** to carry around?

I am trying to decide if I should get a little bigger size screen ( go to a 15.4"). Does anybody have any thoughts about this?

Am planning to buy my first laptop (brandnew) and the cheapest I could find was Acer Aspire 3682 NWXCi. Can someone please advice if this is among the better ones or just need to save more money for DELL options?

I am getting a laptop and it has a wireless card installed in the laptop. My question is do I still need to hook up a ethernet cord into my modem if I buy a wireless router? I'm new to all this laptop stuff but I already have a home computer with a dsl connection with verizon. My verizon modem only has one port for a ethernet cord which is going into my computer that I have now.

Is it ok for a laptop to be switched on for 24 hrs a day. I use a very old desktop, thinking of getting a laptop now. I usually use the computer for Development (Mainly WEB programming, PHP,MYSql etc...) and music (editing, mixing, DJing etc) so i use a lot of CPU power. I also keep the downloads running all day long. I dont have any air-conditioning, do these laptops come with any in-built cooling FAN. Thanks a lot

It is regarding the battery heating up after a few hours to make sure the cpu or processor don't break. After a long period of time will the laptop overheat???

I am going up Mount Everest (hopefully all the way), this spring, and would like to take up a laptop. The major problem with laptops up there is *not* shock, but heat dissipation. The air is so thin that the laptops have a hard time dissipating heat from the chips and especially the hard drives. Does anyone know what laptops have survived the best up at base camp or higher?
