i have compaq presrio v3000 can it run windows xp 64

While the last answer gave you a link to Intel's EM64T, he failed to notice that EM64T is not available on the processor you are using. So, definatively, you CANNOT run XP64 on this system, because your processor is not 64-bit capable.

According to Intels web site (see the links) you can. If I am reading it right. I used the AMD 64 dual core and XP Pro 64 bit and runs great but I did do a lot of research as an avid PC builder. There is no virus protection for 64bit yet and some drivers may need to be updated for your hardware also most Burning software will have to be bought new to cover the 64bit as the oem Nero and Roxio do not have a patch as of yet. But the new full versions will run on the 64bit. Do some real deep research and stay away from vista...read the attached article..

Dual Core Processors are 32 Bit therefore it can only run x86 OPSYS but CoreDuo is supposed to have a 64 bit architecture in its circuit but that not proven only a myth but def Core2Duo has the 64Bit.

Nope ...it's still a 32 bit processor ... you need a 64 bit processor to run a 64 bit application
