My laptoop keeps floating around my room. I'm using my other laptop. It just floats around until it bumbs into something then goes in the opposite direction.

It's a HP Pavillion ZE4900 and all a sudden the screen is dark.....I can barely see the screen. Can this be fixed or is it over for this Laptop?

I've done is once to my laptop and im thinking of doing it again because its running slow and the laptop speakers( on the laptop) seem to skip. they sound distorted. If I do a system recovery does it wipe out all the programs and re installs them again? what happens if i do this again to my laptop as far as memory or space?

I am about to purchase a laptop and was looking at HP. I had a Dell and their customer service sucks. One time, there was an issue with my computer and the representative, who was from India, ran me in circles, and told me he did not know what was wrong. Luckily, through trial and error, I was able to correct the problem MYSELF. Is HP like this, or do they have better support?

I've bought a notebook computer. The battery of my previous one doesn't work due to overcharge and never taken out. I always connected the laptop to a power outlet. So now for this new computer I want to take out the battery after it's fully charged in order to preserve it. And then I continue to use the laptop by plugging into a power outlet. I'm wondering if this will damage the computer.

When i change my volume or my monitor brightness it wont show up to tell me how much i have changed

like usually a bar shows up and tells me how high i am changing the volume to etc same with brightness (fn + up arrow key or down)

but now its gone.

okay,i want to buy more ram for my laptop[i have 256mb at mo] and went to www.crucial.com to get some

so i downloaded the program to get my recommended extra ram
and my system stats


so i have 1 free ram slot.good news*cheers*

it says i need DDR PC2700 type memory,thats cool ,they recommened some

1 problem:they have alist of questions i can ask and they give automatic answers:
1 of them is Does my computer support dual channel memory?
it said no


what does that mean?




if i get another 256 of ram, DDR PC2700, will it doublem my ram and make programs run faster?

Hi. I have an hp pavillion laptop and I had to take it apart today and when I put it back together, the screen won't work but everything else does. Someone told me to check and make sure the screen is connected to the power source and that I didn't accidentally disconnect it. Does anyone know where I should look? Everytime i use my laptop on my lap my legs burn even though the laptop is not hot. The burning continues even when i have stopped using it. Has anyone else experienced this or know why this is happening?

I took the bottom off my laptop to check it out , reseated the ram and cleaned the fans. Everything looks ok under there. I put it all back together again and now...

when I turn it on, it powers up but the screen is black and the fans come on, then they turn off, then they come on again, and then my laptop shuts off.

What the heck is goin on? Anyone have any ideas (other than getting someone else to do it)?

Hi. I have an HP Pavillion laptop (zx5000) and I had to check the power supply. I took the case off and so I took the screws out on the bottom carefully, opened it up, took the little cover off the fans, got in there, saw the problem, then put everything back where it was. I was grounded and didn't let any moisture in. I didn't hear a beep or anything and now when I try to power it up, it turns on but the screen stays black.
The fans turn on, the thing powers up, then the fans turn off and windows never comes up.

Can anyone tell me what to check or what I can do?

I want to clean fingerprints off my screen and I did not want to damage it. Is it ok to use regular windex or do I need something special.

I have a fifteen year old Compaq laptop that currently needs a bios battery. It has a small hard drive and not much memory. It has Win 95. I don't have any specific applications to use on it. I'm just wondering if it has any value that I'm missing.
