I've linked an article. The consensus is that the chips will perform comparably, however, the AMD being a 64 bit chip will have the advantage if you intend to try and upgrade to Vista. That's not necessarily a slam dunk as everything I've heard about Vista is that it's a pig and needs processor, graphics and memory just to run even acceptably.

With that said, Intel already has Core2 Duo processors out.

The Centrino Duo. Intel is the leader in the market and the Centrino Duo is newer than AMD's Turion which means the technology is probably more advanced.

Plus all the tests that compared Intel's new chips to AMD's chips favored Intel's chips.

AMD all the way! Anyone who can tell you they see a difference in performance is full of BS up to his neck! Intel is simply too high priced!
