I have a fifteen year old Compaq laptop that currently needs a bios battery. It has a small hard drive and not much memory. It has Win 95. I don't have any specific applications to use on it. I'm just wondering if it has any value that I'm missing.
Thanks,
RT

Already sounds like a museum piece.
Ask Compaq or the Smithsonian what the value is as such.
"(Compaq Computer Corporation, Houston, TX, www.compaq.com) Compaq was the leading PC manufacturer when it was acquired by HP in 2002. Founded in 1982 by Rod Canion, Jim Harris and Bill Murto, one year later the company shipped 53,000 PC-compatible COMPAQ Portables, resulting in $111 million in revenues and an American business record. The Portable's success was due to its rugged construction, ability to run all PC software and its semi-portability (it weighed 30 pounds!)."

It is the Compaq site.

Sorry to say, but as listed no one can honestly answer these questions for you since there is not link or specifications listed for the Compaq computer. The Toshiba is fairly nice for the price. Should run most programs just fine. The Graphics card is an Intel 4500, will run most games and applications, however not well on some graphic intensive games. T4200 2 Ghz isn't the best CPU in the word, but will run most applications, and for the price you can't complain much. The difference in Vista and 7 will lie mainly with the programs and other hardware that you will use. Vista is more stable and has much better driver and software support while 7 has some nice features but lacks in driver support because it's relatively new. Please post a link to the compaq you are referring to and the type of usage you wish to have out of it, and people will be able to give you an honest and comprehensive answer.
