i'm poor medical student in sri lanka. i want to buy a lap top. but i dont have money for buy new one.. how ever my mother gave me a lone.that is about 400$.so i want to buy secont hand lap top..so how can i buy it in sri lanka?

What should I look for considering that I will hook into my home wifi (other computer in house is Mac) and into my office network (all PCs) My office plans to update to the new windows when it comes out in January or so. I want to be able to follow them with the new windows program. Dual core looks cool, do I have to buy two copies of windows?

I done everything I could possibly do. My speakers just stop working? I have rebooted my computer 3 times thinking it might be the software or the drive but I dont think it is because I have install all the drives and everything. My media player wks. I see it playing but no sound. I thinks is my speakers. I think that they are fried. I have tried connecting speakers to my laptop but still nothing. Please help I have a gateway laptop.

I think I'm having Display problems on my laptop computer seeing how whenever I choose a screen resolution that is smaller than 1024X769, such as 800X600 or something, the laptops screen gets smaller but doesn't actually fit itself into the screen, there is a big black border. Anyway, I would manually resize it but I don't know how seeing how it is a laptop with no buttons on the monitor. So, I figure I need to install an up to date display driver. I have a dell Inspiron 1150. Although, there are a hundred different display drivers available for download!!!!!!!! How do I know which one I need to install??? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have a normal laptop keyboard and I see the num lock button and it's in blue writing underneath scr lk but whenever I press it only the scr lk goes on. And I've tired pressing shift and then it but that doesn't work. Help?

How do i format my averatec 3200 laptop if it does not come with cds? (i want to format no clue how to do. Tech support assisted me last time now warranty over and no clue how to do it Please Help
I pressed F8 went to boot and command promt thing and did format C: and it tells me Warning all data will be deleted i say yes i agree and then it says

I have DSL modem capable of running up to 4 computers thro the ethernet connection..I have a laptop i want to get online with but it has a phone line type adapter not an ethernet, I cant find an adapter..What do I do.?There isnt just a phoneline to ethernet adapter cable?.What is a wireless router? Ive dropped it in the past, but it works perfectly fine. But sometimes when it goes in hibernate, it wont show no picture. I will have to restart it a billion times....then finally it come back to normal. What can be this problem, Ive dropped it in the past, but it was a very soft drop. I also want to mention I have very very very very very very low disk space on it, could this be the problem.

My HP Pavilion 5495 moniter displays white as pink and black as green and ive diagnosed it as a bundle of cords leading into the moniter. I think it is loose on the moniter side. what i want to know is if the moniter for my laptop is hard to take apart or check the connections to the moniter. Also is it hard to put back together.

when i prees the wireless button there is no light to say "active" so when try to log on to the internet i get a "unable to connect" message ? i just keep pressing the wireless button and eventually i get connected but any sugestions to stop this irritation would be appreciated ? also could i set my laptop to go wireless automatically each time i switch on ? instead of having to press the wireless button ? thanks!?

Which is better desktop or laptop?
I dunno which is better.

Desktop:
-Disadvantage: Not portable, louder fan noise.
-Advantage: Better work rate, bigger screen, keyboard.

Laptop:
-Disadvantage: Small screen and small keyboard, no inboard mouse.
-Advantage: Portable, Silent fan noise.

6 Cell, 56Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery
9 Cell, 85Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery (extra £12)

How long can i use the laptop fully charged between the two batterys? Also does the 9 cell last longer in the long run?
