this was what my first tech teacher told me they were, calling it the "idiot-proof" (oxymoron, i know) definition. He said that computer were "Things that after you input something random, give you back something random and generally serve to only gove us an illusion of productivity, not the reality" Afterwards he went on to ramble about how since our school's network was down 24/7 it wasn;t actually helping and blah, blah blah. Personally i disagree and could probably write a term paper on the subject, but all in all, you just need to know that a computer is something that take input from a user to do calculations and other such things and return an output back to the user.
