How do i format my averatec 3200 laptop if it does not come with cds? (i want to format no clue how to do. Tech support assisted me last time now warranty over and no clue how to do it Please Help
I pressed F8 went to boot and command promt thing and did format C: and it tells me Warning all data will be deleted i say yes i agree and then it says
Format cannon run because the volume is the use by another pricess. Format may run if this volume is dismounted first. ALL OPENED HANDELS TO THIS VOLUME WOULD THEN BE INVALID. Would you like to force a dismount on this volume? (i do yes and just stops again please help..

Good day. No cds? not even the windows XP Setup cd? cause u can delete all partitions, format and reinstall windows. The only thing i can think is to take the hard drive out of the laptop and put it on another computer as a secondary disk. Then it will come up on the My computer folder as a D or E drive then u format the drive. When u done, put it back on the laptop. Laterz.

You need to first boot using a bootable CD or floppy disk. If you dont have a bootable CD, you can make one by following the instructions at http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/winxp-sp2-bootcd.html
