the mouse works fine for a short time the is impossible to control has any one had the same problem

I sounds like static electricity.

Leave the mouse, lick the tip of your finger and slowly touch the pointer before it moves, you might get a little shock but you'll get all the energy out of it and it should stop its nonsense.

Sounds like you have a digital mouse (uses a light beam instead of a track ball.) If this is right then I'd look at where the light comes out of and see if there are any hairs or fluff in there giving you messed up readings. If this is clear you could reinstall it, or better yet get a new one and use current drivers.

Mine turned out to be fluff on the mouse mat from my woolly jumper!
