im going to buy more RAM for my PC....but i know nuttin about computers or how to install them. i know u have to get a specific kind of RAM for each computer...how do i find out which kind my PC needs??
-it says it has 512MB PC3200
DDR SDRAM memory
if you need anymore info, ask me for it

that name come from---seems like an odd name for Gateway to name a computer as it certainly wasn't me or mine that named it that.

Since its summer time my computer is beginning to overheat when i play games and my monitor just blacks out. My computer makes a annoying noise when its hot and dusty. So i opened one side of my computer case and have a small fan blowing into it. The noise eventually lowered and I'm able to play games again. Is this safe?

I have Windows Me on my Computer, and have got a Windows XP Professional Upgrade disc. I have succesfully completed all of it before the last part of the GUI setup (ie. before Windows Welcome). It will sometimes appear to be working at something for a long time (but not be), or, if it gets to the stage of creatings Start Menu items or the step beforehand, it 'loses' my Mitsubishi\Diamond Data 24x CD-ROM (I had a burner, but it's reading wasn't so good).

1. Should I put my Sony CDROM to replace the Mitsubishi 24x one?
2. What's my problem and how do I fix it?

I have 128Mb of RAM and a 450MHz Pentium 3 (I have run Windows XP on a Pentium 2 350 with 128MB of RAM before)

It says it needs a minimum of a 400 watt power supply but it doesn't specifically say how much it uses like the processor I'm getting which says it will take about 100 watts of my power supply.

I have 1GB of RAM installed. However, recently it has shown up as 1014MB in Vista. Why would this be? Not that it's a big difference, but I still would like to know.

I hooked up my friends tommy's hard drive to my dell dimension 8200.
it wasn't working on his, so i was trying to test it.
instead of starting up, it stopped working.
he has ME on it and when I hooked it up to my computer it showed mine and his as both primary hard drives in bios.
I didn't think nothin of it as I was just trying to see if his would boot on mine.
the computer froze so i hooked mine back up.
windows 2000 didn't start so i tried a repair but it keeps getting stuck in registering the components during final tasks.
i tried a chkdsk but it still don't work.
help me please.
my father gonna kill me if i can't get the computer back to normal

I have a rig equipped with an x1950xt. Am I having any bottlenecks in my computer? Because I've been hearing thousands of different answers from my fellow gamer friends that I don't know what to believe! :/

I have a windows hp pavilion mx703 desktop and whenever i start it up, it goes to the normal page with the start menu n everything but within 10 seconds, it restrarts and does the same thing all over again. i put the computer into safe mode (safe mode it doesnt shut down on me) and ran norton antivirus and i had no infected files but it showed that i had over 700,000 files on my computer. what could be wrong with my computer n how can i fix it without erasing my entire hard drive?

I got my girlfriend a PC recently, used. It was totally wiped, had to install an OS. Went with Windows XP. Anyways, I get the impression that it's a custom job as I can't find a model number for it anywhere. It has an integrated sound card but I can't seem to find any drivers. It has an AMD Athalon (XP) 1800+ 1.5ghz processor...and I don't know alot about AMD computers. The case says it's a "Tangent" but that's about all I can figure out. Can anyone tell me how to find out what sound drivers I need or anything else?

Our old PC (from Evesham) has crashed for the 4th time :-(
so my dad wants to buy a new family computer. He has been to a local shop where they tried to sell him an xp machine, they also told him that Vista is bad at the moment and that he should buy an Xp machine and upgrade later. I think that it is better to get a vista machine for only 60 pounds more which has got better specifications and because Vista is the future.

Is Vista really that bad?
How could i convince him that it is better than Xp?
Do you know of any good quality, cheap and reliable vista models which PC world sell?
