when desktop starts, it does not connect to the network. I am using a NetGear router. Sometimes it does not connect at all. I have a laptop using the same connection. Nothing wrong with the laptop. Desktop started behaving like this last two months. I tried changıng the ethernet card slot. It didnot work. What might be the problem?

You said you changed the wired NIC slot but you did not say you replaced the NIC. The NIC itself may be bad. Also check for updated driver for the existing NIC as the driver could have a defect that a more recent driver addresses.

See if you can get upgraded firmware on the router. If so update the firmware.

The switch may be problematic. Try to run only the desktop plugged into the router with no network switch. This would help isolate the problem.

If none of the above helps, write again in a new question telling us what you did and we can dig deeper.

1, Check with your (ISP) Interent Service Provider to see whether there is problems in your area.
2. Diagnose your computer by checking settings
3. If nothing else unplug the interent for at least and hour and try again

Dear

Firstly check your IP Address option here you will given IP Address or TICK automatic IP Address option, if Automatic IP Address option than they will found the IP Address. Insert manually IP Address of your computer and check I think this will work.

Secondly check your HUB Wire or Server.
