Since its summer time my computer is beginning to overheat when i play games and my monitor just blacks out. My computer makes a annoying noise when its hot and dusty. So i opened one side of my computer case and have a small fan blowing into it. The noise eventually lowered and I'm able to play games again. Is this safe?

The CPU of the computer tends to get too hot in the summer especially in confined spaces. The reason that the computer is making an annoying noise is because the CPU fun is running at higher rounds per minute. (it is controlled by the computer so when the inside of the machine reaches a specific temperature, its starts working at higher speeds, and when it cannot cope you might get shut downs.
Now whether it is safe to have a separate fan inside the computer, depends on what you have done. A loose fan inside the computer case is obviously dangerous. On the other hand, you can purchase an additional computer fan from a computer store (it comes already with the right plug and can be plugged straight on the computers power supply), cut a hole with a template (on the external shell) exactly opposite the CPU fan and fit the new fan. You will find that you will not hear the annoying noise anymore because your CPU is getting extra air flow. Just to point out that there are varying speed and strength of computer fans, so for a few extra dollars, you can get a good one.

It's not going to hurt to have a small fan blowing into your computer. It would help if you blow the dust out. However, a better idea is to get a case fan. Case fans attach to the inside of a computer case and draw power from the computer. Almost all cases have a place you can attach a case fan.

If your monitor blacked out , that means ur graphics cards are overheating. clean the dust in the heatsinks, both ur cpu and gpu ...
Having a fan is safe, but is not a permanent solution for ur problem. vacuum away the dust.. and change ur cooling fans if possible.

yes, it's safe. my friend of mine always open one side of his pc whenever he use his pc,.
the minus point of this method is your pc will have more dust in short time, so make sure you clean it if you feel there are too many dust, and ofcourse animal like cockroach and your pet can messed up your pc if youre not careful
