I really need to purchase an inexpensive, high quality computer. I am trying to go to school in Sept.and I definitely need a computer. If you know of any websites or any places near Phila. please let me know. Thanks.
P.S. I was hoping to find something under $400, not those DELL's b/c they don't excatly have what I need. They end up being way too slow.

well for under $400, dell is best, u r expecting to much for under $400. a decent computer starts around $500-$600

Well....the first question you'd have to answer is 'What do you want your new pc for?'
Personally I'd recommend some Athlon X2 3800+, 1GB RAM, 200GB HDD, and if you're not into gaming a geforce 7300 or radeon x1300 would do. There you have a super budget pc. Here in Malta [where things are ultra expensive you'd get it for some $550-$650 but from america .... it would be another story :)

Start with a barebones and build one from there. You can get the cheapest hard drive and a DVD write and keep it under $400 easy. What will take you over budget would be the keyboard, mouse and monitor.
You might be able to get those real cheap on craigslist.

Contact your local dealer, describe what you need. If you dont like playing games, then you dont need a VGA card. If you will use PC for sound editing then you need a Sound Card. Just pick what you NEED.
