The speed is the main factor you need, PC3200 is that. It runs at I believe a 400MH Front Side Buss, but I might be off on that speed. Just write down that number (PC3200), and the amount(512MB) and go get more. If it is windows xp, 512 should be good, but doubling it to 1GB will be great. If Windows Vista, double all that, 1GB be your Min, while 2.0GB would be great. So, it is up to your OS, XP VS Vista and how much you can afford.

P.S. I am running Windows XP Pro with 2.0GB of DDR/800 ram and works perfect.
Also, people he/she already identified the type of ram,

PC3200 DDR, there is only one type like this that number is what they need!

A simple place to analyze your PC is as follows.

http://www.crucial.com
http://www.4allmemory.com

both sites have a tool to analyze your PC's RAM and what it can hold. I suggest you run one or both of them.

The absolute best place to see how much RAM you PC can handle is the manual for the Motherboard or it will also be in the manual for your PC.

Each PC is somewhat different, and if yours is a laptop you probably only have 2 RAM slots to begin with, so there could be some issues with upgrading. In many cases with laptops, especially older ones, you may have to throw away the RAM that you have in order to really "upgrade" it substantially.

Hope this helps.

Then you just ask for PC3200 RAM when you order.
