First, I have unplugged the power and all components on my computer to get rid of risidual ram memory.
When I start my computer up, I get the blue screen, then it gives me an option as to how to start it. I have started it in safe, safe w/ networking , and in normal.
After doing so, I get the windows starting screen, then it shuts down and the cycle starts over. It almost seems like it is also going into hibernation.

Hello,

I just came up to some refurbished computers for around $300, and I was wondering if it is a good idea to buy refurbished computers? If possible, where can I find desktop computers in Calgary, Alberta? Thanks!

Hey, recently I bought desktop memory from bestbuy. Turned out it was defective. It's supposed to be compatible with my pc and everything but when i installed it i kept getting beeping sounds see here for more detail http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aki7VY5kklvyMqAPn.Bsje3sy6IX?qid=20070707193212AASeQI3
Anyways I was wondering if i should go to Bestbuy and bring my PC to them. And this time make sure I get the right one. I'm planning to get the same one i bought before. That should be a good idea right?

Following is my system configuration:

MB= Nvidia P5N-E SLI
CPU= E6600
Memory= kingston 800 mhz 1X2 = 2 GB
Video card= Nvidia 7600GT

Following are my overclocking parameters

VCORE= 1.36V, manually set in BIOS.
FSB= 357 MHZ
Bus speed = 1430 MHZ.

Results: CPU running at 3.2 GHz

CPU temp 35 degree C
MB temp 37 degree C

conclusion: the system is running very stable without a hitch. i was able to achieve these results just by adjusting the FSB and Vcore. Did not make any changes to memory or video.
I am sure if i want , i can probably get the CPU to operate much higher, but im happy with these results .

I'm idling in BIOS at 56-57 degrees Celsius with my Zalman 9500, one 120 mm fan, 3 90 mm fans. I know this chip runs hot, but I guess it could result from two things:
1) My case is slightly cluttered...darn psu manufacturer didn't provide me with long enough cables to really tuck em away.
2) I may have put a little too much thermal grease (zinc oxide). Also, I had to remove the heatsink fan...possibly after it dried.

I have some Arctic Silver 5 (which I should've used--my friend convinced me not to becuase you have to wait 200 hours for it to "set"). I think I'm going to remove the current compound and apply it.

Okay, I have an Athlon 3200 single core processor on my home theater pc. The motherboard is socket 939 and I know processors are going to get hard to find so I'm looking at getting either:

An Athlon X2 3800 (512MB cache, 2Ghz processor) --Toledo core

or

An Opteron 165 (1GB cache, 1.8Ghz processor) --Denmark core.

or

just keep the processor I have and not bother.

I will not be overclocking but may underclock to make machine quieter, just looking to make my computer a little more future friendly and add some horsepower. Its only tasks are playing video's and compressing DVD's to DIVX

i have 2 hard drives, a 40gb master (which crashed and had xp on it) and a 160gb slave (working fine, used for extra storage)... the 40gb is no longer working along with my os of course, and windows is no longer booting up. My question is, when installing a fresh copy of xp, can i just use the current working 160gb to install to? or should i replace the 40gb with a new hd and add the OS to that? would the 160gb need to be re-formatted if used?

I was planning to get a Core 2 Duo E6600 by 2008. With Quad Core now, I just may get that, however, I really dont want to resort to that level. And THEN, knowing the Penryn processors are soon to come out, I dont know if I should get a processor from their group. Which processor(E6600,Quad,Penryn) would be best as of right now, and give decent "mileage"?
Also, what motherboards are compatible with the new gen Penryn?

My next question is concerning nVidia and their GPUs. Im content with getting the GeForce 8800GTX, but again, the 8900 series is on its way. I feel the 8800GTX may be best answer.

Thanks a lot in advance.

I buy a new computer every three years and spend about $4,000 each time. I just bought a Dell XPS 720 and I don't know what to do with my old computer. It runs a Pentium 4 3.4GHz and has 2.00 GB of RAM. Runs Windows XP Professional and everything works great on it. Is there anything I can use this for still? Or should I just toss it? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.
