Ram 512 is more than enough. Hard drive capacity depend on your needs. have a smaller hard disk for as C. use another one for your storage purpose..

If you can swing the cash, get yourself another .5 to 1 gig of memory but check the specs on your motherboard first to make sure you get the right kind and number. A lot of motherboards need to have matched memory. Depending on the kind you need, you can get a gig for under $50. Best Buy is having a sale on 3200 memory (512mb) for around $20 right now in my area. Go to http://www.bestbuy.com and click on the "Weekly Adds" link at the top and enter your zip code. Then find the "Computers" category on the left and then find "Memory"
250G should be good for a lot of internet action but if you are going to download a bunch of movies, I'd go as big as you can afford. If you can't afford it now, don't worry, you can always add a second drive later. You can add memory later as well if you find your system a little lagging.
Have fun.

Hard Drive space isn't as important as the type of hard drive you select. Dell often will have a large hard drive but its old technology.
You want a decent processor with 1Gig ram and the hard drive should be SATA, not IDE (it should say that wherever you order it from).
The size of 250 is good. But I'd sacrifice the size of the disk for more ram and/or processor speed. You'll probably have a DVD burner on that unit, so just burn your old stuff off from time to time and you should be fine.

Depending on what and how many visual style options you have active in Windows Vista (Also if its Home Basic, Premium or Ultimate), you should upgrade to 1GB RAM. The recommended is 2GB and more for Premium and higher again for Ultimate.
250GB is fine, what you need to check is what speed the HDD is. Example is 7200 RPM is good. 10000 RPM is better.

well the size of the hard drive does not matter cuz the hard drive is your storage space for the programs..what you really want to be looking for is the processor speed and the memory to make everything run fast...i would recommend is upgrading the memory to 1 GB and the processor speed should be 2.0 GHz or faster....

That should be plenty to run stuff like that. If you were into playing video games on it, I'd suggest the 1GB of memory, but it sounds like you'll just be using it for surfing the web, so you shouldn't have any trouble with that machine. Just make sure you're not still using dial-up!

That's plenty of hard drive. But if you want to do allot with video and music I would run at least 1 gig of memory, 2 gigs would be better.

HD ok. Memory needs to be increased to a minimum of 1gb preferrably 2gb. Also advisable to get a good 512mb video card (256mb minimum).

Just watching videos and playing music isn't going to require a lot of RAM, but you'll want a good amount of storage space so you can have a lot of your files. The numbers you quotes are just fine.

that should be ok. 1gig would be great for multi-tasking especially with media such as video. That 250 will work for now, but as most people will tell you, you will want at least a 300gb additional HD if you download a lot, or store a lot of music, videos, or other large media formats.
