Here's your motherboard's specs:

It only supports Pentium 4 Prescotts and Smithfields. Since it is a proprietary board made by Asus for HP, expect limited upgradeability.

If motherboard BIOS is prior to intro of Core 2 Duo in early 2006, it will not support/recognize Core2 Duo. A BIOS update could help. If your motherboard's chipset is Intel 915 series, it cannot support Core2 Duo.

From what I could find your FSB is only 200MHz which is stone ages behind the Core 2 Duo. You'll need a new mother board if you want to upgrade to the C2D.

I could find no info on the Asus Emery 2 motherboard. Does your manual tell you what chipset your motherboard is using? If so, you should be able to find your motherboard specs here: http://www.asus.com.tw/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11.
