I just bought this HP with Vista a Month ago, and a few days ago, the harddrive started to make a weird sound, it sounds like a bike rev-vvv-ving; no clicking sounds though. It is smart enabled and does pass the smart test. I am sure it is the HD because I opened it to make sure where the sound is coming from. Could it possibly be failing already? It does it randomly, not when I get busy doing something. I guess the sound comes from it increasing rotation speed, but it can't be normal!

For the last couple of weeks my parents computer has been really shaky. It was having problems with suddenly shutting off for no reason when In a game. And a lot of graphics driver errors. So I thought I should clean out the AGP port. (I followed all the rules, power off, ground your self, etc..) Just blew it with a can of air. But when I went back to turn the computer on, it wouldn't boot! It wont even let me boot from a CD!. I went into the BIOS and went through the menus and when I got to the "Boot" menu it crashed. It just locked up. So I tried to clear the CMOS. But it seems like it did next to nothing. When I filled out the BIOS info again (skipping the boot menu) and it restarted, all that showed up is the POST and than it froze right after it was done detecting the Harddrive and CD drive.

Is there anything I can do? Or is my motherboard dead?

One of the minimum system requirements for a program that I ordered is 512MB of RAM. Since my computer says that I only have 504MB, does that mean I should get an upgrade in order to run it?

I am looking for an online guide of some sort to use an IBM PC case to build a new PC. What I'd like to do is basically mod the case so that it will hold modern componets.

Hi,

I am looking into buying a new PC but not sure what I should be looking forward. I always assumed the more money you spent the better the PC... is this the case? Not wanting to seem like a total div walking into the shop and to be sold any old rubbish.

It will be used for home use, internet, ipods, PC Games. Quite a large memory would be good - how would I recognise this? Good Graphics card I presume as I will be running a few games - e.g. Zoo Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, CM.

Please help.

Thanks
