Hi there,

i would like a new motherboard, and i would like an amd chip. My mate has mentioned to get a 939, but there are also 940 out now, which support ddr2 also. Is the 940/ddrs the wayt o go?

cheers

I would like a rom device that is unalterable that can be used to boot up and go on the internet without fear of anything being done to alter my main hard drive, That way we could do our banking without fear of keyloggers and other spying. Are you with me fellow computer users?

While reformatting and reinstalling my system the other day, I was in the windows xp set-up blue screen and I accidentally removed the partition my 200GB back-up drive. As soon as I realized, I shut off the computer and unplugged the drive, since it hadn't been reformatted and I knew I could resotre the data.

OS and main drive are fine, data has been recovered, but now I can't initalize the back-up drive correctly. I thinks its 131GB. I thought the MBR might have become corrupted since I interrupted windows setup program while the drive was plugged in but I can't seem to fix it. I've tried fixmbr, I've tried booting with win98 cd to run fdisk, but it says the drive is invlalid, both while it was formatted as a 131gb drive, and while it was unallocated space.

I'm out of ideas to try. Any thoughts?

What could be the reason? I have tried everything but it is no use because it can't recognise the drive.

Hello all!

My sister-in-law has killed her computer. She needs to do a system restore, but doesn't want to lose all of her pictures, etc. Is there any solution that will let me take her hard drive out of her PC, attach it to mine w/out me opening mine up to do it? Is there some sort of USB->ATA connector I can get? Or, will I have to get an enclosure to do this?

Thank you much!

I ejected a movie and it made a sort of sputter sound then ejected the disc. I place a different DVD in and nothing happened. I restarted my computer and again nothing. So I placed my fingers on the drive and I could feel (and barely hear) a few thumps but I notice the disc wasn't spinning. According to windows everything kosher! Is it possible to have a drive fixed? Or do you just have to replace it? It's only a few years old!!!! >:(

I have a Dell Dimension with a Pentium 4 (2.4 GHz) with 512MB of RAM. My computer has never had any significant problems until recently. Suddenly, within the last couple days, my computer bogs down during startup. My desktop appears, but I can't open any programs or windows, or if I do, it takes FOREVER for them to open. My hard drive activity light is constantly on. I have Avast! anti-virus, Spy-bot and Ad-Aware, but the problem is, my computer won't let me open them to run a scan! Eventually, me computer will tell me I'm "critically low on virtual memory". I've tried to turn off any unnecessary applications to free up resources. I've even tried to boot up in Safe Mode, but no luck: when I try, my computer shows a bunch of scrolling lines of file paths or something, then just freezes. The most frustrating part is, my computer is so slow that I can barely get into msconfig or regedit to poke around. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? Thanks in advance!

I connected a regular IDE hard drive to my computer using IDE to USB cable. Windsow says new hardware is installed and ready to use. I can even see it in device manager, but I don't see it in "My Computer" with the other drives. What's wrong? Thank you.

I just bought an Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe WIFI motherboard and I was not sure if it supports only SLI or if it also supports crossfire. Anyone have an idea? I know it does support SLI for sure.
