Number of signs

1. DVD burner longer than normal time for burning.
2. They make bad noises.
3. Windows has not able to locates the DVD burner.

If a DVD burner was interrupted, then maybe it not the condition but the heavy load on the system memory that is trying to support your burning process.

Before you take serious action, I thought my burner was going bad. I even bought a new dvd burner. Still made bad burns.
I reinstalled my OS and all the problems went away. It now burns great.
Has it been a year since reinstall? If yes, it's time. Good luck.
